1966 Dodge Dart 270 Convertible Restoration Part 5

Early December 2010

Car came out of the paint booth and the body was sanded down and filler was added at appropriate areas





Car was pushed back into the paint booth and 2nd coat of primer was applied




Before the car goes back into the paint booth for the final coat...


The floorpan was fitted with sound proofing mat and...

the trunk was sprayed with tar.

Late December 2010

Car came out of paint booth for the final time... Top coat applied!

October 2010

Engine bay was cleaned to bay metal :)

The rest of the car was scraped to bare metal too

including the inner bulkhead

The the old rusted floor pan was cut out and...

replaced with a new piece

Then the car was slowly sprayed with Epoxy for rust prevention


The the car was left out in the 90DegF sun to dry





November 2010

Finally the car enters the paint booth!

September 2010

Old paint was painstakingly removed with a combination of heat gun, scraper. and chemicals

Fender removed from the car so that the old paint can be removed throughly

The door, and rear fender was scraped 

Here is what a "naked" front end looks like

All the panels after paint removal!

Meanwhile, while the body is being torn apart... at the engine shop...

Cylinder head was removed for the block

the Carb, intake, and exhaust manifold was removed too

Here is a non-original Solex Carb of a Land Rover Series 2 - the only "British" part on the car :)

The transmission was dismantled and to be overhauled

The Torque Converter and the housing

Early August 2010

Parts ordered from Australia & United States
Brand Spanking New Brake Master Cyl

Parts from Australia : Bushings, lower and upper arms, brake shoes.

Bendix brake shoes

Original MOPAR Oil Filter

August 2010

Continue tearing the car apart...

Tail lights and chrome trimmings removed

Windshield trimmings removed

Air-Cond system removed

Interior : Seats, door cards, carpets all removed. Note rusted floorpan.

Original front a rear seats, removed

Late August 2010

Car arrived at the Playhouse Garage Bodyshop for Full baremetal Restoration
